The IOMAX Archangel is based on the Thrush Aircraft Model S2R-T660 Crop Duster. The aircraft was modified to be a Close Air Support (CAS) and Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (ISR) platform for the United Arab Emirates (UAE). South West Aero Group provided certification guidance for the installation of the special mission equipment into the S2R-T660.

Mil-Hdbk-516 military certification was also started through the Write Patterson certification office as a Non-Defense Military Assessment (NDMA). South West Aero Group received Mil-Hdbk-516 training and participated in the NDMA certification project.
